How to create and manage categories in the Softpoint POS system:
- Log into Softpoint Dashboard: Go to the Menus Layout section.
- Select Category Type: Choose the category type for POS, online ordering, or kiosk.
- Create a Category:
- Click on the three dots next to Categories and select Add New Category.
- Enter a category name and a category button name (e.g., “sandwich” and “full sandwich”).
- Select the sales category (e.g., food, beverage, alcohol, retail).
- Optionally, associate a prep station and set the maximum number of items.
- Set the availability times and days (e.g., Sunday specials, happy hour).
- Customize the background color and image, and choose if the category will be available on POS, online ordering, or kiosk.
- Arrange Categories: After creation, you can reorder categories by clicking the three dots and selecting Arrange Display Order.
- Edit Category: To modify a category, click the three dots next to it and select Edit. Changes can include:
- Status (active/inactive)
- Category name, button name, sales category, tax rate, prep station, maximum items, and availability times/days.
- Background color and device availability (POS, online ordering, kiosk).
