How to Connect a Printer to Fresh KDS
To connect a printer to Fresh KDS, you must first set up the Printer.
Follow the steps provided in our Bixolon SRP-S300, Zebra ZD410, or Epson setup guide to first set up your printer.
Once set up, the below steps can be completed in Fresh KDS.
- From the Fresh KDS app, navigate to Settings - Printers.
- Tap to configure your type of Printer (Epson, Bixolon, or Zebra ZD410). Once detected, it will appear as an available printer.
- Tap to select your Printer.
- Enter a new Printer Name.
- Select the Printer Option you plan to use.
- Label Printer - Print labels.
- Ticket Printer - Print paper tickets.
- Toggle On to enable Automatic Printing by Order Type, if applicable.
- If disabled, a print option will be available for individual items on a ticket
- If Automatic Printing is enabled, tap Print to choose from the following options:
- When Received - Print when the order appears on the Fresh KDS screen.
- When Bumped - Print when the order is bumped from the Fresh KDS screen.
- Tap ‘Configure.’
- Tap ‘Test Print’ to verify the printer connection.
Special Notes For Android 12 Users
Android 12 requires App Permissions for Location & Nearby devices to discover Bluetooth Printers.
If running V. 2.21.15 or higher, Fresh KDS will prompt the user to allow Fresh KDS access to these permissions, or:
- On your Android tablet, navigate to Settings - Apps.
- Tap to select Fresh KDS, and tap App Permissions.
- Tap 'Location' and select 'Allow only while using the app.'
- Navigate back to App Permissions.
- Tap 'Nearby devices' and select 'Allow.'
How to Print Tickets in Fresh KDS
Once a Bluetooth printer is set up and connected to Fresh KDS, a print option will be available from the Three Dots - Action Menu on a ticket.
- If Automatic Printing is enabled, the selected order types will automatically print, and the Three Dots - Action Menu will provide an option to reprint the ticket.
- If Automatic Printing is disabled, the Three Dots - Action Menu will provide an option to print individual items on the ticket.
